Now is a CO non-profit that has instituted The Acupuncture Project.
Wellness Now is raising money to help pay for acupuncture treatments for
those who can't afford them or whose health insurance doesn't cover them.
For example, the elderly are often suffering from chronic pain,
poor memory, the effects of stroke, etc. all of which can have beneficial
results from acupuncture. But, Medicare/aid does not pay for acupuncture
so these people cannot have adequate medical care.
The Acupuncture Project could pay for their treatments. People who want
to donate money can, for example, donate enough for a person to receive
a series of treatments - 10 treatments for $500. The acupuncturists
involved in the project will also be offering treatments at reduced fees
as their part to donating to the project.
